Fun with Kids-How to make a bouncy ball!!

Who wants to make some bouncy balls?? Sarah did!! Here's the recipe!
You moms out there will love it because its all stuff we usually have around the house...YAY!

½ Cup Warm Water
1 Tb Borax
1 Tb of Cornstarch
2 Tb White Liquid Glue
Food coloring

In a cup mix the warm water and the borax.
In another cup mix the glue, cornstarch, and food coloring.
Pour the glue mixture into the water-borax cup.
The glue mixture will harden after 10 seconds; use a fork to take it out of the water. If the glue mixture is still sticky, squish it with your hands and dip it back in the water.
Roll the mixture in your hands to make a ball. The more you handle the mixture the firmer it will become. Store them in small plastic containers or a plastic bag.

PS... the balls will flatten after resting a while.  If they do roll them between your hands again, this will bring them back to the ball shape.

DIY Gift Hand Stamped Kitchen Tools

Here is a great idea I found on the lovely pinterest! I, in fact, had pinned it twice on different days so clearly it was a must do. HAHA! I actually already had stamps so it was a no brainer for me. You can pick up the stamp set at Harbor Freight for fairly inexpensive.
Here are the things we used.

1 set of 5 new bamboo kitchen tools
1 ultra fine sharpie
(BTW the one in the picture is not the sharpie we actually used, This one wasn't quite fine enough)
1 small nylon cutting board
1/4 inch steel stamping set
A short handled ball peen hammer

Place the wooden tool on the cutting board. This is to protect your table etc from the hefty blows. :)
Note: Be sure to wipe the stamp with a paper towel before using it. There is oil in the bottom of the box used to prevent the rusting of the stamps.
Place the stamp where you want it and give one big blow. If a second blow is needed align the stamp in the  already stamped letter and go for it.

See the J?

Once the word is a stamped take your ultra fine sharpie and fill in the letter.
PS these tools will need to be hand washed only but hey! they already were hand wash only because they are bamboo so no biggy!!

Tada!
 All done!
Notice that we changed the theme after the first spoon?
Yep I like the kitchen words better but you could do all kinds of word ideas.
Christmas themed words or thanksgiving words, Names etc.
I am so excited to make more!
You could give them as a set or just one. Imagine inside a hot pad mitt with a brownie or cookie mix!?
YES!
I am excited and very happy with how these turned out!
Give it a try!

The Candy mummy-An easy DIY treat or favor for you favorite Halloween Monsters

My Mom made these Mummy treats for my family years ago and we loved them so much!
Aren't they cute!?!
She is the most wonderful mother any girl could ask for and I love her with all of my heart! My Mom is very elegant and amazing and made holidays unforgettable long before Martha or Pinterest even existed.
She is one of my very best friends and I love continuing on the traditions she began with my own family.

Here is what you will need for one Mummy....

Rolled gauze (This roll made about 2.5 mummies and was wider than I wanted but the more narrow gauze was out of stock)
double stick tape
1 snickers bar
2 werthers candies or any round hard candy
1 Hershey nugget
2 wiggly eyes
scissors

The first thing you'll need to do is cut the "tails" off the candy.

Next with the double stick tape add one of the werthers to the snickers bar to form the head and one to the end to make the feet.
Tape the nugget to form the arms to the snickers bar.
Wrap with the gauze to your liking mummy style using the tape to secure where needed. Last but not least add eyeballs.

CUTE!!

Thanks Mom!
